Pormpuraaw to Kowanyama track
(15 Aug) Today we woke up slowly ready for an eleven hour drive. We went down the rough track to Kowanyama and then on to Karumba. On the track to Kowanyama a bull blocked the road and was ready to charge at us. We nearly ran over a kangaroo too. We went through a very soft, deep, steep river. We also went on a very sandy road. We saw a pig that had been shot. We saw eagles eating a dead kangaroo. In Kowanyama we saw lots of shady mango trees and had an ice cream. For most of the drive it was so dusty that the dust made the windows black. When we reached Karumba we saw a lovely sunset in the north.

Hi Sabine,
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting day the trip to Kowanyama turned out to be! I hope you have lots of photos
to show what happened. Many years ago your Daddy
came face to face with a big buffalo when he was
in Canada. Ask him about it.
Travel to Mt Isa without any more bulls!
Love from Grandma.
