Broome and Cape Leveque, WA

Harvesting a South Sea Pearl in Broome

Today we woke up at 5.30am.  I saw a man open (harvest) an oyster and he got a B grade South Sea Ocean pearl.  A "B" grade pearl is the second best pearl you can get.  A "B" grade pearl means it is perfectly round.  It also means it has no marks on it.  It is also very shiny or has a great lustre.

Today we also saw a beautiful church with Mother of Pearl shells at the front and back. It was gorgeous.  We saw it at Beagle Bay on our way to Cape Leveque.
