Home Valley Station, WA

The Gibb River Road, near Home Valley Station, East Kimberley region, WA

(12-13 Sep) Today, after two days of deciding whether or not to go on the Gibb River Road, we decided to do it. The Gibb River Road is a long track which goes through the middle of the Kimberley for 700km, is very scenic and natural, and is four-wheel-drive only. We stayed for two days at Home Valley Station, which is a big cattle station owned by local people. It was very hot here - much hotter than Cairns. Some of the movie "Australia" was filmed on this station. We also made a friend named Holly and went on the back of their ute for half an hour under the stars. Then we had fish and chips for dinner and then went for a night swim to cool off.
